I'd leave it off in the development environments. That way when a violation occurs, the developer will se his transaction abend instead of a system dump being take that may never be reported.

FWIW, I found the same thing when I started here, and promptly changed it
(and the RENTPGM to PROTECT and STGPROT to YES except where other products
demanded not).

We are running cics 4.1 under os390 2.6, I'm a new systems programmer and
noticed that all the regions are using Storage Recover set to off. From
what I read it should be on. Is there some constraint or reason that it
might be off that I'm unaware of? I realize no one can know this for sure,
but I thought maybe someone knows of a general reason to leave it off
besides the obvious.
