This is the Georgia Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday afternoon, May 2, 2000,
Jeff Sewell reporting.
E. J. Williams and Georgann Schmalz report a recent sighting (date is not
given) of a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK near the dove field off Holly Grove Rd. just
east of Juliette Rd., which is east of Forsyth in Monroe County. Going
south from Atlanta toward Forsyth, take the Juliette Road exit and proceed
east. Go 4-5 miles and pass the DNR Marsh Project. Just up the hill turn
right on Holly Grove Road, a wide dirt road. The dove field is on the left
about 1/4 mi. down. Of course, check all perches up and down the road from
this location, especially perches that afford an elevated view of a field.
Thus concludes this edition of the Georgia Rare Bird Alert. For information
