Good folks,

I'm trying to learn more about version control systems.

For SAS production, our shop recently left OpenVMS for Windows/NT. We're missing the semblance of file control we had with VMS's file version numbers.

If you use SAS in Windows, and run programs in batch, what, if any, system for file control do you use?

Could you share what you feel are the shortcomings and advantages of your system?

If you would kindly reply to me, I will compile the answers and re-post them in a few days.

I know now of two readily available products:

On the SAS Help web site there's a shareware product called PDE. http://www.sashelp.com/software/getsoftware.asp?softwareID=33

There's also a commercial revision control system available from these folks: http://www.componentsoftware.com/

Thanks for your help, Lee Walke Manager, Analysis Programming Pharmaceutical Research Associates Charlottesville, Virginia 22911-5801
