I tested in 6.09E. The reason you see little difference between the effects
of MINSTG under V6 and V8 is that in V8, 'program' memory is much larger.
MINSTG (nor anything else) affects this part of memory usage. MINSTG
influences the 'data' part of memory which is suspended or not depending on
how the option is set. In my example, the array were not too large, so the
'program' and 'data' parts were comparable, and with much larger
'background' the difference in V8 was hard ot see but it exists. Make the
arrays drastically different, say 100,000 and 1000,000, turn FULLSTATS on,
and repeat the test (I would myself but our system folks are still busy
bolting V8 to S/390).
