From memory, I don't think the assembler pre-processor produces a listing, unlike the cobol one. If the asm pre-processor fails, carry on with the assembler step - that will fail but you will see the pre-processor errors too.

Also, make sure you specify PARM=(SOURCE,SP) on the translator step.
