This is the classic 'Monty Hall' problem - and has used up more time on newgroups and discussion groups than I care to remember :-) - essentially because there are *always* a few who refuse to accept the (admittedly counter-intuitive) answer, no matter how much theory and simulations they are shown.

For those intererested, there is at least one website devoted to the topic - type 'Monty Hall' into a search engine!
